Kohl's Shopping Haul & 4th of July Sneak Peek

Hey y'all! I hope you are having a great 4th of July eve. I just wanted to pop in today and share some awesome things that I found on my random trip to Kohl's today. So I originally went in looking for a top to wear for tomorrow since I don't really own anything for the 4th of July. I did find something btw and if you follow me on instagram you probably saw this little gem earlier.

This is just a little snapshot of the cute top that I got to wear for tomorrow. If you want to see my full look i'll be posting some pics on instagram tomorrow, so if you're not already following me you can follow me here >>>> Instagram #shamelessselfpromotion

But I also snagged some other beauties that I am really excited to share with you. First off Kohl's was having like some awesome sale or something and every item that I purchased was on sale, WIN. SO without further adieu here is what I purchased.

This adorable, and super comfy Lauren Conrad boyfriend cardigan (p.s. it was originally $50!) Boyfriend Cardigan Also I had no idea that Lauren Conrad had a line at Kohl's and there were so many other cute items that I wanted to purchase!

I also picked up this simple navy shirt, originally it was a possible for me to wear for tomorrow. But when I found the other top I ended up getting this one too cause it was a great deal and also really comfortable. I think this will be one of my go to shirts for school in the fall.

Last but certainly not last, this ADORABLE Lauren Conrad dress. Guys I picked this up off the sale rack thinking, ugh it's probably not gonna fit, and its the only one here, and I may not even like it anyway..... But the second I put it on OMG. First off it fit perfectly, and I really liked it (along with how skinny it makes me look and feel). I think that I am definitely gonna to get a lot of wear out of this dress. I am so glad that I stumbled upon it.

So that is everything that I got at Kohl's today, and I was pretty happy when my receipt said that I saved $119. WOAH. This is why I love bargain shopping.

The last thing I want to share with y'all today is my nails that I did for tomorrow.
I LOVE how they turned out! I'm probably not the first person to do what I consider a scalloped french manicure, but it was actually fairly easy to do. If y'all want to see a tutorial on it let me know in the comments!

So I Did Some Shopping

I ran to Walmart today to pick up a few things that I needed and managed to walk away with a few things that I didn't initially plan on purchasing. I don't know if you have been to Walmart lately but they actually have some really cute clothes, swim suits, and bags. So I wanted to share some of the stuff I picked up because it was a great deal and I can't wait to wear it.

First I picked up this swimsuit top (its freakin AH-dorable!) fringe +purple + coral = WIN.

Then I picked up these bottoms, and hullo they were only $5! That means this whole swimsuit cost me less than $20 and its cute.

Then I found these yoga short which are perfect for lounging around in during the summer, and once again they are only $5. So I picked up the purple color you see here and also a multi color cheetah.

I picked up two other shirt that were on sale so I don't have any picture to share with yall. But one is just a navy shirt with a pocket, and the other is a coral lace tank. They were $3 and $5 on sale, what?!

Lastly I picked up this bag because I wanted a casual summer bag that was casual and easy to throw my stuff in for the day no matter the occasion. It has lots of room, a zipper pocket inside, and two outside pockets on the sides as well. It was practically a seal at $10.

Just so you know this is not a sponsored post in any way I was just at Walmart and picked up some fantastic stuff at some awesome prices and I wanted to share that with yall. Have you found any awesome deals on summer clothes recently? Tell me about it in the comments!

Favorites Lately

Since it's Friday and I feel like I have been absent from blogging for a while, I wanted to share some of my favorites.

1. This iPad case. Holy goodness! This is the most versitle amazing case ever. I can serisouly not rave about it enough. Speaking of raving about it, there will be a post next week about all the awesome stuff that this case can do and more reasons why I like it so much.

2. The Vampire Diaries. If you want to know more about my current obsession with this show check out my Netflix review that I did last week.

3. This red streak in Elena's (Nina Dobrev) hair. I'm considering adding a red streak to my hair as a part of my summer hair. (Should I? Weigh in about it in the comments!)

4. These pants that I snagged from Ross. They feel like silk amazing-ness, and are right up there in comfort with yoga pants. They were also a total steal at $12! Thank you Ross!

5. My new cup with a straw. First off why are these cups so amazing? There is something about drinking everything out of a straw that just makes it better. Besides that they cup is purple. HOLLA.

6. The fact that a ton of Targets shoes are on sale. Which I took advantage of and ordered those two adorable pairs of wedges that you see up there. I can not wait for them to get here!

7. The song "Talk Dirty" by Jason Derulo

SGA Elections

So I have been working the past week to get ready for Student Government elections at my school. I have been looking for something to get involved in since I transferred and I knew that this was just what I was looking for. So I got my application in, made some campaign posters, and then waited for the official elections to take place. I am excited to announce that I will be an SGA senator next year!

This is what I wore for the official elections:

The dress is from Ross, the blazer is from Nordstorms, and the black heels I have had for forever.

This is a cute instagram collage that I created while I was still waiting for the results. Thankfully it didn't take that long we knew the results by the afternoon which was great so that I didn't have to spend a lot of time waiting and wondering. So I am excited to have found an organization to be involved in next year because they help me stay focused on my schoolwork and grades. Mostly because bad grades ='s not being able to be involved. Yay for motivation!

Dressing Classy for Classes

So I think a question that lot of college students want to know is: "What exactly should I wear to class?" I think a lot of people get confused on what to wear because of freshman orientation. Generally at freshman orientation someone at some point will say something like, “Now make sure that you don’t wear pajamas to class because it looks bad to your teachers. You need to wear nice decent clothes all the time.” But from there that leaves us to decide our personal definition of “nice decent clothes”. So I wanted to share my personal opinion of what to wear to class based on what I have experienced from what people wear at my college (and by things that I have worn).

THE BIG WHAT NOT TO WEAR: PAJAMAS (By pajamas I literally mean anything that looks like lingerie, cartoon printed pants, footy pajamas, ect.) They make you look sloppy and unprepared, and they can even make it hard for you to focus because you are TOO comfortable. Professors love to pick out the student who wear pajamas to answer questions because they are generally the less prepared, not focused students, and they are also more likely to fall asleep in class.
Bottom Line: NO PAJAMAS.

What to Wear Instead: Yoga Pants with a tank top and sweatshirt, also sometimes sweat pants(this depends on the pants, there are so many nicer looking options nowadays that sometimes sweatpants are a viable option). Yoga Pants are acceptable classroom wear, but I would stick with just basic black ones and then pair it with a tank top and a sweatshirt, or a t-shirt. Sweatshirts are a good choice, especially during the winter (because it’s cold), but also all of the time because class rooms are generally freezing. Sweat pants and a t-shirt are also acceptable most of the time, as long as you look decent, not sloppy, and don't look like you literally just rolled out of bed.

I wanted to focus mainly on Pajamas because they seem to be one of the biggest things not to wear. Then I decided to make this nifty little chart here to show you some comparisons on what is appropriate vs. what is not.

WHAT TO WEAR
WHAT NOT TO WEAR
Jeans
Leggings as Pants (Unless you legitimately think you can pull them off)
Shorts (of an appropriate length)
Pajamas
T-shirts
Shirts with holes in them
Tennis Shoes, Boots, Flip flops, ect.
(almost any shoe is appropriate besides heels)
No shoes (Please wear shoes…PLEASE.)
Business Casual Dress
(Polo’s, khakis, blouses, ect.)
Any dress that might be worn for a night out, a prom dress, or to the club
Yoga Pants, Sweat pants
Heels (Unless you absolutely must, and if you do be smart and take a pair of flats)
Jackets, Sweatshirts, Cardigans
Crop tops (Without a tank underneath)
College themed gear
High school themed gear (Dear freshman, this means NO LETTERMAN JACKETS.)

And now some pictures of college appropriate dress, for inspiration and reference!
A great outfit for those days when you want to dress comfy but not look like you just rolled out of bed. Original Photo Victoria's Secret

A great simple outfit for a cold school day. Original Photo here

This would be a great spring outfit for school! Original photo here

I think this Lilly Pulitzer popover would be great to wear when its just a little chilly out.

And then every girl should have a great statement hoodie that will get some laughs, but keep you warm. Original photo here. It's also great to have a watch so that you can always get to class on time. I'm loving this turquoise one from Modcloth. Original photo here.
